I am a lifelong fan of spanking fiction, but I have found that while there is a very large quantity of it out there, primarily on the internet, over 90% of spanking fiction is of very low quality. There are very few writers capable of creating a well-written spanking story, or book or magazine, and that really frustrates me. For example, so called British "Spanking Magazines" like Kane and Janus are not, in fact, about spanking at all. If you read them, they are filled with dull, dry tales of Headmaster's administering "six of the best" with a "whippy cane" to a Sixth-Former's "knickers". I have never owned a cane in my life, and the very idea of caning a school girl. . .well, it's not spanking, and it does nothing for me. Outside of dreary tales of caning, there are writers who write tales of romance with perhaps a 3 paragraph description of a spanking, that sort of thing.

There are some wonderful authors out there. Ed Finn and Chuck Wilson both wrote for CFPUB.com, but much of there writings have been lost to time. There are others, of course, who know how to write richly detailed scenes of M/F and F/F over-the-knee bare bottom spankings, with hand and hairbrush, and lots of ritual. Sadly, they are few and far between. If anyone has some QUALITY spanking fiction--that actually involves spanking, not a caning, not a student getting paddled in the principal's office--please post them. It seems that with the coming of the internet, it's all about pics and vids now, and the art of crafting high-quality spanking fiction is fading out.

Its probably already on your radar, but there are a few great writers over at thespankinglibrary. KDPierre, KFR,profken, Peter242, ChardT, Seegee all still write. A lot of others too. I agree with you though, not as many fictional story outlets anymore.

I have posted several short stories on WordPress.

I wouldn't say I am "high quality," but I am improving.

The following five stories are strictly OTK hand spanking.

- Monday Morning

- A Steady Hand

- Und Eins to Grow On

- One Last Lesson from Tanaka

- Trust, Redemption and Mr. Kelly

While I agree that only a minority of 'spanking' (which is simply a convenient a euphemism for CP) fiction is of really good quality, isn't this true of all fiction, even the professionally published - and wouldn't we expect amateur writers without the benefit of professional editors to be less good on average?

At the risk of igniting an undoubtedly well-rehearsed argument, your description of caning stories as dull and dreary seems to be because they don't interest you but surely this is just a matter of taste. I happen to prefer stories featuring classic British school implements, actually especially used in non-school stories, though I still appreciate a well-crafted story. I don't agree that caning/strapping/slippering stories are inherently drearier than OTK hand-spanking ones, while accepting they interest you less; others think differently. Not all of us prefer M/F either. However, you and I agree in finding fiction more erotic than videos in general.

I would like to think that some of my work as Rachel Gordon was quite good and I tried hard for scripts not to be too repetitive whilst also being moderately creative. It is a difficult task when hundreds of distractions mean often a story cannot be written from start to finish in a single session. That and the fact that I hated formulaic styles which tend to proliferate the genre, which is, I believe the point being made by the op. Also, there are sections of my work that would no longer be accepted on most spanking library sites today, which shows how insular and censorial we have (had to) become. The point was also made that certain scenarios 'does nothing for me'. My only response is that we are all different in what appeals to us and we are (I'm fairly sure) from different backgrounds and age groups, so one man's (or woman's) food is another man's poison, so to speak. Personally a well written story has the potential to be more erotic than pics or videos, so maybe we should be putting digits to buttons (as opposed to pen to paper) and posting on here.

If you think you're frustrated, imagine back in the day when spanking mags were shrink-wrapped and you paid you're $20 and didn't get to see the stories until you got home.

Now there are thousands at our fingertips, but it's almost impossible to find anything good.

Here is one of my favorites, despicable filth about prep school boys and the schoolmaster's wife.

There are lots of good thoughts in this thread, and I couldn't resist the temptation to add my 2 cents.

Like potterstoke, I believe our imaginations can create far more powerful emotions than any video or pics. I further believe that well written stories will, in fact, stimulate our imaginations to do just that. To me the key to a good story is to create the setting and describe what's going on without providing every little detail. Idea being to stimulate the reader's imagination to fill in those blanks.

ajw provided a link to an old Alex Birch story. I also liked Alex's stories and years ago exchanged emails with him as well as posted on his forum. In a sense, Alex was one of the pioneers as he wrote many stories for the early British spanking mags. (Alex passed away in 2010)

Only comment I disagreed with is gingerjoe's: 'spanking' (which is simply a convenient a euphemism for CP)

My view is Corporal Punishment is a much broader term within which spanking is merely one form of CP. My stories tend more towards the punishment aspects.
